Dear family,

Many memories tie us together but none so much as time around the table. The happiest moments of my life are centered there. Good food shared with family and friends always generates great conversation, laughter, and connection.

When I think back to my younger years in Connor, nothing stands out as much as dinner around the table and the rhythmic sound of the front porch swing. Both simple things, but both building the love of family in a little girl’s heart.

When my children were growing up, the table (whether kitchen or dining room) was a place to share life’s heartfelt discussions, games, laughter -- all while enjoying the recipes you will find in this book. The kitchen table is a place where life and love happens, and it stands as one of the sweetest symbols of home.

When my grandchildren came along, I was blessed to have time at the table with them. Every summer for ten years, we had a week of DeeDee camp. The table, once again, provided a place to share stories, enjoy favorite foods, make crafts, and play games. Making memories!

One memory I will always hold in my heart comes from my grandson Jackson, when he was a little boy. Following DeeDee camp he asked his mother this question: “Mom, will there be DeeDee camp in heaven?”

Yes, Jackson, I believe there will be. There is a reason Jesus says “Come to the Table,” because that’s a place where love and life connect.

In one of my Bible studies, I read there are “three phrases that summarize the message of Jesus:

   I love you.

      I forgive you.

          Supper’s ready.”

Home. “Heaven’s banquet will exceed our fondest dreams.”

And now I have great-grandchildren...more blessings to come.

Supper’s on the stove.

                                   I love you,

                                     Mom (DeeDee)
